To determine which are the best cities to live in the country, US News analyzed data from 150 of the most populous metropolitan areas to analyze their cost of living, the labor market, crime rates, the quality of education and more.

1. Huntsville, Alabama

It is home to NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center and is the most affordable city to live in the United States.

3. Green Bay, Wisconsin
Green Bay is the hometown of the NFL Packers team. It earned the third spot on the list due to its low cost of living compared to the area median household income.
According to US News, "Green Bay residents spend just 20.03% of median household income on rent or mortgage payments, along with additional costs including taxes and utilities."

4. Boulder, Colo.
It was the best city to live in the United States for two years in a row. “They enjoy a high quality of life with the mountains on their doorstep and a median annual salary of $70,450 and a home of $528,833,” according to U.S. Department of Justice. News.

5. San Jose, Calif.
San José is the third largest city in California and has positioned itself as one of the most important technological centers. In fact, it is called the urban center of Silicon Valley.

It rose 31 places in the ranking of the best cities to live in, because, although the cost of living is very expensive, residents have good salaries that allow them to afford it.

The median home price is $1,302,118 and the median annual salary is $93,450.
6. Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina
This metropolitan area is made up of Franklin, Johnston, and Wake counties. It stands out in the top 3 because there are many research and technology centers that drive its development.

The average annual salary is $59,174 dollars. The median home price is $369,707.

7. Fayetteville, Arkansas

The average annual salary is $48,180 dollars. The median cost of a home is $387,630.
